Netflix Announces 'The Chosen One,' A Series About

Netflix is set to release "The Chosen One" based on Mark Millar's "American Jesus"

Netflix is at it again with producing controversial show concepts. The media giant is adapting Mark Millar's comic book "Chosen," to "The Chosen One;" a mysterious thriller series about a boy who is supposed to be Jesus 2.0.


Millar revealed to plot of the show stating, "A little kid finds out that the reason his mother disappeared with him and they're hiding out in a small town is because he's the returned Jesus Christ and they're doing everything they can to stay alive so he can grow up and face the antichrist in the City of Megiddo as per the biblical prophecy."


"The Chosen One" was initially published back in 2004 by Dark horse. Since acquiring the rights of the concept, Netflix announced back in 2018 that they would make an adaptation of the story. The series is directed by Everado Gout, director of the popular "The Purge" films. Gout and his brother Loeopoldo Gout both wrote and produced the series adaptation of the film. The show boasts and impressive line of talent including Tenoch Huerta, who recently starred in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," Carlos Bardem and Dianna Argon.


Millarworld, a comic book company founded by Millar in 2004 was bought out by Netflix in 2017. Netflix since announced adaptations of multiple comics by the Millarworld company including "Empress," "Huck," and "Sharkey the Bounty Hunter."


There is no set release date currently by Netflix.
