Chick-fil-A announced that starting Feb. 13, the popular chain restaurant will be testing a cauliflower sandwich in three markets: Charleston S.C., Denver, and the Greensboro Region of North Carolina. It will be the company's first vegetarian option. The starting price is $6.59.
Fans of the original sandwich can look forward to the fact that the sandwich is prepared in a similar fashion. Marinated and breaded with the same signature seasoning, Chick-fil-A enthusiasts can look for the similar taste as a healthier option.
Stuart Tracy, culinary developer of the Chick-fil-A Cauliflower Sandiwich states, "We explored every corner of the plant-based space in search of the perfect centerpiece for our plant-forward entrée. Time and time again, we kept returning to cauliflower as the base of our sandwich."
According to the official release, "The sandwich is made with a tender filet cut from a whole, real cauliflower and embraces the plant-forward style that places vegetables at the center of the entrée."
Vegans should note that milk and eggs are included in the preparation of the cauliflower sandwich. Chick-fil-A does not designate vegetarian-only preparation surfaces.
