Our top 10 Christian albums this year
It's that time of year where everyone shares their Spotify Wrapped or YouTube Recap playlists. It's no secret artists like Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, and Drake have graced the top of the charts for 2022. In fact, they were to top three artists of the year. The Christian genre, although vast often highlights the same Christian artists every year. This year, Train of Musings offers our own top 10 list.

Pop Christian singer Tauren Wells produced his ten-track, and third album named Joy In The Morning with Capitol Records. Known for his catchy and upbeat style of music, this album does not disappoint. Released in the summer of this year, Joy In The Morning, was perfect for summer drives yet offered reflective lyrics. Features with Aaron Cole, Jon Keith and Tiffany Hudson grace the album on songs Fake it, Use A Friend and Afraid With You respectively.

If you were a Christian for any amount of time in the early 2000s then you know Skillet. On Jan. 14, 2022, Skillet released their 11th studio album through Atlantic Records titled Dominion. On Feb. 17 the band released the deluxe version of the album which featured five new songs: Psycho in My Head, Crossfire, Unbreakable Soul, The Defiant and Finish Line. A fun fact about the about the album: John Cooper was never in-person with his producer Kevin Churko.

Australia's own For King and Country released their 4th studio album asking the question: What Are We Waiting For? The next 13 tracks, Luke and Joel Smallbone explore the answer. One of the singles, Relate, became their first single to hit number one on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs. This project included three collaborations with Dante Bowe, Tori Kelly and Kirk Franklin.

Brandon Lake released his third studio album Help! on May 13, 2022 with Tribl Records. This album features 10 singles including Help!, Fear Is Not My Future and Don't You Give Up On Me along with artists Cody Carnes, Amanda Cook, Judah, and others. A piece dedicated to themes like mental health, anxiety, depression and its intersection with Christianity; Lake opens up about his own struggles with mental health. The album debuted at number 18 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums.

Seven, Brook Ligertwood's first live album and seventh solo album released Feb. 24, 2022. A project partnered with Sparrow Records and Capitol Christian Music Group, the album features a guest appearance by Brandon Lake. With producer Jason Ingram, and co-writers, Scott Ligertwood (her husband), Brandon Lake, Phil Wickham and Pastor Steven Furtick, Ligertwood recorded the live album in Nashville, Tenn. With a mixture of hardcore theology and melodious symbolism, Seven debuted at number 15 on top Christian music albums.

Bethel Music released its 15th album titled Simple in September of this year. Featuring familiar voices like David Funk, Hannah McClure, Zach and Abby Vestnys and more, Simple includes 11 tracks discussing the joys of of the simple life.

A fan favorite, Amanda Cook released her album State of the Union, on May 20, 2022. Cook along with Grammy-award winning songwriters and producers, (Steffany Gretzinger, Paul Mabury, Jason Ingram, Lauren Daigle and Cory Asbury), co-wrote the album with her. Along with the release of the album, Cook released three lyric videos for “Miracle of the Mind,” “While We Wait” and “Where the War Ends.” This is Cook's first worship album with Provident Entertainment.

Circuit Rider Music dropped an album with Lindy Cofer title I Saw The Lord on July 22, 2022 and we are still reveling in it. Songs such as, Lord of the Harvest, Jesus the Healer, Jesus the Beloved and Jesus the Revivalist all culminate to proclaim declarations of who God is. "When we recorded these songs we were met with the presence of God in a unique & powerful way. This is what led to titling the album “I Saw the Lord”", they write.

Mosaic MSC known for songs such as Tremble, How Beautiful and Everlasting Light released their first ever studio album on April 8, 2022 titled This Is How I Thank The Lord. Following this, Mosaic released their deluxe album that features five live tracks. An album that was created after half a year apart; this project is all about gratitude the Lord.

LION, Elevation Church's eleventh live album debuted on Mar 4, 2022. Chris Brown, Brandon Lake, Jonsal Barrientes, Tiffany Hudson Pat Barrett, Joe L. Barnes and Chandler Moore are all featured in this album. LION received two GMA dove awards and was number two Billboard's top Christian albums of the year at its debut. LION also received a Grammy nomination for best contemporary Christian album.
